Booth and the UoC

  • Booth lactation room (Harper) – private space for pumping or breastfeeding, equipped with small fridge, is available at the classroom level. Please contact us if you need clearance to access the room with your Booth key card.
  • Family Resource Center (run by the UoC Office of Graduate Affairs) – resources, information, programming and services for university families.
  • Student parent list serve – university run list serve for student parents
  • Chicago Partners’ Parents of Little Ones – resources and activities for Booth families, organized by the partners group.
  • Tot-lot – Playroom for university affiliated families located in the bottom floor of the Fairfax building at 1369 E Hyde Park Blvd. Buzz for admittance. Nominal quarterly fee. Open play time as well as occasional social events.
  • LinkedIn group – private online forum for current students and alumnae of any Chicago Booth program.

Childcare:

  • Baby PhD – Hyde Park childcare network
  • Chicago Childcare Society – Hyde Park childcare for 2 to 5 year olds
  • Sittercity – parent/childcare matching service for major metropolitan areas including chicago. ~$100/year to join.
  • Nanny Resource – nannies and mother’s helpers referral service for the Chicago area.

Schooling:

  • The Savvy Source – preschool information and more for cities around the U.S.
  • Great Schools – grades public and private schools around the U.S.

  • Working Mother magazine – a classic, includes periodic employer rankings.
  • Work It. Mom! – blogs, resources and community for working moms
  • Stanford Graduate School of Business list of articles and books on women executives and career choice. (Many of the subscriber-only? articles are available to current Booth students through the? University of Chicago? Library. Contact the librarian for help locating an article.)
  • Forte Foundation’s Work-Life Balance section – great list of articles, websites and resources for working moms
  • 85 Broads – great network for female? students and graduates from select undergraduate and graduate programs (including Booth). Join online and get involved in your local/campus chapter.
  • Catalyst – nonprofit organization working to build inclusive workplaces and expand opportunities for women and business. Wonderful, in-depth research for those interested.
